At first glance, the djembe may appear to be a generic percussion instrument, but it is far from ordinary. You would be hard pressed to find one drum that could provide such a variety of sounds. From a fast tympani sound while slapping the outer edges to a deep bass “boom” from a strong strike to the center, a remo djembe can be used in almost any music. While they are commonly used in reggae music and associated with its African roots, they are common in orchestral pits and are becoming commonplace in church music groups. It is a great drum for beginners to learn on, and the develop over many years.
